The Mets’ skipper Buck Showalter revealed that Jacob deGrom will join the Mets on their road trip to the West Coast after a few days adding, “he’s going to be ready as soon as he can, and be healthy.”

It’s been nearly a year since the two-time NL Cy Young Award winner last threw a pitch in a regular-season game, and deGrom said over the weekend that he feels, “completely normal.”

Tylor Megill is close to making a rehab start. Showalter said Megill might be able to make start during the upcoming road trip. Megill has been on the injured list since mid-May due to biceps tendinitis, and minus a few bad starts before he hit the IL, looked pretty solid. In seven starts for the righty, Megill owns a 4.47 ERA. 1.125 WHIP, and struck out 37 batter across 34 and 2/3 IP.

With the Mets’ offense exploding of late, and with the pitching staff being able to at least hold it together for the most part, it’s good that the Mets are taking it one step at a time with deGrom. But with Max Scherzer out as well, the Mets will need their ace back as soon as he’s ready to go.
