It was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading leads in the middle innings, but the Rumble Ponies ultimately prevailed to force a decisive Game 3 on Wednesday.

Jacob Reimer, just as he had been throughout the regular season, led the way for Binghamton with two hits—including a double—and three RBIs. His two-run single in the seventh provided key insurance after the Ponies regained the lead, cushioning them against Erie’s quick two-run response in the bottom half.

The SeaWolves jumped on Watson early, putting six runners on base in just over two innings while forcing him to throw 54 pitches. With trouble looming in the third, Watson handed the ball to Felipe De La Cruz, who limited the damage by allowing only one inherited runner to score. De La Cruz later surrendered a solo homer in the sixth, but otherwise delivered a steady middle-relief outing for the Rumble Ponies.

Ben Simon shut the door in the ninth, retiring the top of Erie’s order, including this fly ball to left fielder Nick Morabito that helped seal the win:

Brazoban — who has bounced between the big leagues and Triple-A this past month — followed with a scoreless appearance in the bulk role, rebounding after being pressed into action following Jonah Tong’s rough outing last week.

Ryan Lambert closed the door with a dominant ninth inning, showing why he ranks among the top relief prospects in the Mets’ system — and in all of minor league baseball.

Marco Vargas followed up his five-hit performance on Sunday by driving in one of the two Cyclones runs on Tuesday.

The Brooklyn Cyclones, managed by Gilbert Gómez, have won the 2025 South Atlantic League.

Ryan Clifford belted his 28th homer of the season (his fourth since joining Triple-A), while Jett Williams provided the go-ahead runs with a two-run shot in the fourth. Williams has scuffled in September, posting a .200/.277/.389 slash line (.666 OPS) over seven games.

Hamel, who has worked primarily out of the bullpen since April, has strung together three straight scoreless outings. Still awaiting his major league debut after a brief August call-up, he profiles as a potential depth piece for the Mets’ bullpen.

Dylan Ross tossed a scoreless inning for Syracuse to pick up the save. Ross has pitched eight straight scoreless appearances (11 1/3 innings) and has a 1.93 ERA overall in 28 Triple-A innings.

Double-A

Offense was at a premium on Tuesday, but Nick Morabito delivered a walk-off single to left in the ninth. With their win on Tuesday night, the Rumble Ponies clinched back-to-back 1st & 2nd half Northeastern League Regular Season Championships.

Morabito’s offensive production has dipped compared to the past two seasons (OPS down .68 from 2024), but he swiped his 46th base of the year.

Santucci continued his dominance for the Rumble Ponies, lowering his Double-A ERA to 2.52. After some early-season difficulties, the 22-year-old left-handed pitcher is emerging as another promising Mets pitching prospect on track to reach the majors by 2026. Read our recent article about him!

Will Watson piggybacked Santucci with four perfect innings of relief with five strikeouts.

High-A Postseason – SAL North Division Final

In Game 1 of the SAL North Division Final, Colin Houck led the way with three RBIs, including a clutch two-run homer in the eighth to extend the lead. After a disappointing regular season, the former first-round pick will look to carry a strong postseason showing into 2026.

After quietly serving as the Cyclones’ most reliable bullpen arm, Banks has stumbled of late, allowing runs in three of his last four outings, including Tuesday. Lefty Franklin Gomez picked up the win with three scoreless innings.

Low-A

The St. Lucie Mets vs. Daytona Tortugas game was cancelled due to weather. 

The two teams will try again on Wednesday and then have Game 2 on Thursday.

Tylor Megill is nearing a return to the Mets’ pitching staff, which is in need of stability and length from its starters. With Kodai Senga and Sean Manaea struggling, Megill figures to play a key role down the stretch.

Hard thrower Dylan Ross tossed two scoreless innings, lowering his Triple-A era to 2.08.

Double-A

2024 draft pick, Jonathan Santucci, has settled in after early-season struggles, posting stronger numbers in Double-A than he did at High-A. He’s quickly emerging as another fast-rising college arm in a Mets system that continues to churn out pitching talent.

High-A

Brewer delivered once again Tuesday night, despite not recording a strikeout. Through 39 outings in 2025, he carries a 9.49 K/9.

Mijares has yet to allow a run since arriving stateside in late August. His fastball sits in the mid-90s and produced six whiffs on just 20 pitches. Luis Alvarez tossed two scoreless innings, striking out four, and hit 100 mph with his fastball.

Jacob Reimer delivered his second straight three-hit game, driving in two runs to push his OPS to .867. The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the standouts in the Mets’ system this season. Reimer is hitting 512/.574/.927 with four home runs and 12 RBIs in his last 11 games.

A.J. Ewing had two hits in the game, raising his Double-A OPS to .886 in 13 games. Ewing was in ESPN’s updated Top 100 MLB prospects at No. 74, and Reimer was in the next 10 group.

• RHP R.J. Gordon 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K (3.13 ERA)

Gordon has been a model of consistency between Brooklyn and Binghamton this season, posting ERAs of 3.06 and 3.13, respectively. The Oregon product boasts solid strikeout stuff (10.1 K/9) with a low walk rate (3.5 BB/9).

High-A

While his OPS sits at a modest .716, he’s batting .291 with a .344 on-base percentage – solid production for a player with his speed on the bases.

• RHP Brandon Sproat (4.24 ERA): 6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K

After a rough outing last time, Brandon Sproat bounced back Tuesday with six innings of one-run ball, striking out eight (one shy of his season high) and generating 12 whiffs.

Eighteen-year-old Joel Lara surrendered his first earned run in Low-A ball. While command remains a concern (34 walks in 53 innings), his fastball touches 97 mph and he continues to miss bats.

The Mets Dominican Summer League teams wrapped up their season on Tuesday – DSL Mets Blue lost 7-2, while DSL Mets Orange won 9-8. Super prospect in the making, Elian Peña, wrapped up his impressive first year of professional baseball, slashing .292/.421/.528 (.949 OPS) and nine home runs in 55 games.

Utility man Chris Suero launched his third Double-A homer on Tuesday, this time while playing left field. A key part of the Brooklyn Cyclones’ wrecking crew in the first half of the season (13 HR in 74 games), he’s looking to carry that success into Binghamton.

After landing on the injured list in mid-June, Megill made a successful first rehab start in Binghamton, tossing 1.2 innings on 41 pitches. His early-season success has tapered off, but he still gives the big-league club another depth option.
