The Washington Nationals have signed second baseman Brian Dozier to a one-year, $9 million deal according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic first tweeted of Dozier signing with Nationals.
Dozier, 31, hit .215/.305/.391 with 21 homers, 72 RBI, and 30 doubles in 632 plate appearances split between the Minnesota Twins and the Los Angeles Dodgers last season. After the July trade that sent him to the eventual National League champion Dodgers, Dozier hit just .182/.300/.350 with a 77 OPS+ rating.
From 2014 through 2017, Dozier had 162-game averages of 34 doubles, 32 home runs, 85 RBI, and a .254/.338/.476 slash line (120 OPS+), culminating with his 42-homer, 99 RBI campaign in 2016.
