Dominican Winter League (LIDOM)

Toros del Este 7 – 4 Estrellas Orientales
Tigres del Licey 9 – 1 Gigantes del Cibao
Aguilas Cibaenas 7 Р1 Leones del Escogido

Finally active after two months of side work with the Aguilas, Lagares wasted no time getting involved in the team’s quest for the LIDOM Championship. In the bottom of the second inning, Lagares hit a sharp ground ball past the diving third baseman for a base hit. Any concerns about his surgically repaired toe ligament were alleviated as he busted out of the batter’s box and stretched the base hit into a double.

Defensively, Lagares registered four put-outs in his six innings of work including a superb play on a ball hit over his head that ranged all the way back to the wall to make the catch. Based on my personal viewpoint of the game, he clearly is rusty with the bat as his swing timing was quite a bit early. However, more importantly, he seems to be moving freely without any lingering issues and displayed some excellent range in the outfield in his first game back.
