Brodie Van Wagenen is scheduled to speak with Mets’ ace Zack Wheeler and his representation, Al Goetz of Jet Sports Management, per Van Wageenen himself.
“I’ll be meeting with his representatives down here, as I’ll be meeting with a lot of the different agents that represent our current roster,” Van Wagenen was quoted in California. He then went on to add that he’ll ” be meeting with his camp here in the coming days.”
While there is no direct correlation between this meeting and a contract extension, one can only assume that a prolonged stay in New York will be discussed between the Mets and Jet Sports.
Wheeler, 29, will be an impending free agent after next season. He is coming off his best season to date, posting a 3.31 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 29 starts, in which he went 12-7 with a WAR of 3.9.
