New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway announced that David Wright will be the first pinch hitter used on Friday night against the Miami Marlins at Citi Field.
Callaway also said that Wright will bat third and play third on Saturday against the Marlins. Saturday will be Wright’s final game as Callaway says he will not play on Sunday.
The Mets will also have a brief postgame tribute for Wright on Saturday before the fireworks.

DiComo also reports that it’s likely that Wright will only play about five innings and/or two at-bats on Saturday when he starts at third base.
Wright, the Mets’ captain, was activated on September 25 but has yet to appear in a game. He hasn’t played in a major league game since May 27 of 2016.
The Mets legend has homered in his last three major league games and has a six-game hitting streak as well dating back to 2016.
The gates will open at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday so fans can watch the Mets take BP.
