New York Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki is in the lineup on Friday batting seventh and catching against the Philadelphia Phillies. He left Wednesday’s game early after getting hit by a pitch though the CT scan came back negative.
The 27-year-old Plawecki is hitting .237/.341/.397 with 12 doubles, two triples, five homers and 25 RBI this season. He has posted a 1.5 WAR in 63 games for the Mets.
In other Mets catcher news, Devin Mesoraco received an epidural today according to Mike Puma of the New York Post and is likely to miss at least a week. He left the game on Monday after five innings with neck pain.
Mesoraco has hit .211/.297/.381 in 62 games with the Mets after coming over in the trade that sent Matt Harvey to the Reds.
