Wright, 35, went 1-for-4 in the game with an RBI single while playing seven innings at third base. The RBI single was his first run driven in over the course of his rehab assignment. He was hitless in his first fifteen at-bats with St. Lucie before recording two hits on Sunday, but now is 3-for-21 (.142).
As we all know, Wright is attempting to return from multiple major surgeries (neck, back, shoulder), all stemming from a 2015 spinal stenosis diagnosis.
It was reported on Monday by David Lennon that it is unlikely Wright will return in 2018 despite the fact that he has been on a rehab assignment for almost two weeks and it expires on September 1.
Bruce, 31, went 3-for-4 with a double on the night while playing the entire game in right field. He has been working his way back from a hip strain and has been splitting his rehab appearances between two positions (right field and first base).
Obviously, Bruce will almost certainly return this season, barring any setbacks. It’s even likely that he will return within the next week, before rosters expand next month.
