The Mets continue their nine-game road trip as they open up a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants (67-68) tonight. Zack Wheeler (9-6, 3.46 ERA) will get another chance to take on the team that traded him as a minor leaguer for Carlos Beltran in 2011. He will do so as one of the hottest pitchers in baseball right now (6-0, 1.17 ERA in last seven starts) and will be facing Andrew Suarez (5-9, 4.42 ERA) of the Giants. The game will be broadcast on SNY and 710 WOR, with first pitch scheduled for 10:15 p.m. EDT.
Andy Martino of SNY interviewed David Wright who mentioned that he wouldn’t rule out a job in broadcasting or in a front office, but basically ruled out ever having a job as a manager. He was also noncommittal when asked if he would retire this offseason.
