Morning Briefing: Syndergaard Returns For Afternoon Matinee

Good morning Mets fans! Last night was a night forget, as the Mets suffered the most lopsided loss in their franchise history as they were defeated 25-4 by the Nationals at Nationals Park.

This afternoon, Noah Syndergaard (6-1, 2.89 ERA) makes his return to the mound against former Met Tommy Milone (0-0, 5.40 ERA) at 12:10 PM.

The Mets stood pat at the trade deadline, holding onto veterans like Zack Wheeler, Jose Bautista, Devin Mesoraco, and Jerry Blevins.
