Morning Briefing: Off Day Before Last Place Battle

Good Morning Mets fans!!

Sadly, there is no Mets game scheduled for today. They will begin a three-game set with the Marlins on Friday in Miami.

You may not believe me, but the Mets actually won a Jacob deGrom start. They provided him eight runs of support for the first time in what seems like ages. Brandon Nimmo and Austin Jackson combined to go 6-for-10 with six RBI’s while deGrom won a game for the first time since June 18th with six strong innings.

Mickey Callaway told reporters that deGrom will be moved up to face the Yankees on Monday.

According to Kevin Kernan of New York Post, the Mets have talked about moving Amed Rosario to center field next year. If I could add my two cents, the move would make sense if and only if the Mets make a splash in free agency this offseason to acquire an above-average middle-infielder. If not, Rosario should slot in as the opening day shortstop with Juan Lagares occupying center field behind him.
