MMO Game Thread: Mets @ Cubs, 8:05 PM

Monday, August 27, 2018 • 8:05 p.m.
Wrigley Field • Chicago, I.L.
LHP Jon Lester (14-5, 3.64) vs. RHP Noah Syndergaard (9-3, 3.88)
SNY • WOR 710 AM • 104.3 WAXQ-FM HD 2 • ESPN 1050

Depending on when you tuned in and tuned to yesterday’s Mets game, you may have different opinions as to how the game went. Steven Matz cruised through seven innings, his best outing in months holding the Nationals to only one run. The Mets bats on the other hand went quiet (and Jeff McNeil left with a right quad tightness). If you turned off the game there, your inner-monologue was something like “well Matz is getting the deGrom treatment.” You probably went on to have a lovely day.

If you stayed with the game then you got to see the Mets give up 14 runs in the next two innings, and make several defensive miscues. Maybe you were frustrated by their play. Maybe you’re numb to it by now. Maybe you found it funny. Just know that we both experienced that together and we are closer, even though you probably have no idea who I am.

Game Notes

Noah Syndergaard owns a 2.27 career ERA in 19 starts (122.2 innings) vs. the NL Central, which is tied with Josh Collmenter‘s identical 2.27 mark for the lowest ERA against the division since its creation in 1994.

Todd Frazier has three homers in his last five games. He has five homers, 15 RBI, and is hitting .306 in his last 20 games.

Amed Rosario is tied for second in the NL with nine stolen bases since the All-Star break, he has been successful in 14 of his last 18 stolen base attempts.

Jeff McNeil has a career-best 11-game hitting streak (19-for-40, .475) which is tied with Wilmer Flores and Asdrubal Cabrera for the longest by a Met this year.

McNeil who tweaked his quad yesterday, is available off the Mets bench tonight, and there is a chance he can return to the lineup tomorrow night.

Lets Go Mets!
