Morning Briefing: Rain, Rain Go Away

Good morning Mets fans! Last night’s game was canceled due to rain.

But the Mets play the Padres at home tonight at 7:10 p.m. at Citi Field.

Anthony DiComo of reports that Paul Sewald will be called up to take the spot vacated by Jeurys Familia on the active roster.

DiComo also reports that Noah Syndergaard is heading back to the disabled list after making two starts as he contracted hand, foot and mouth disease.

Zach Braziller of the New York Post reported on Sunday afternoon that the Mets are promoting top prospect Andres Gimenez from Class-A Port St. Lucie to Double-A Binghamton.

Buster Olney of ESPN reports that in addition to the Mariners, Diamondbacks and Brewers, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cleveland Indians have shown interest in Asdrubal Cabrera.

MLB analyst Jim Bowden was so against the Jeurys Familia return that he had to make sure it was legit.

Zack Wheeler remains the likely only Mets starter to be traded at the deadline, as there is said to be a half-dozen teams interested.
