Morning Briefing: Mets Head Home for 11 Games in 10 Days

Good morning Mets fans! Last night, the Mets used a five-run fifth inning to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-3 at the Rogers Centre.

The Mets head home to Citi Field to take on the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night. Jacob deGrom will take the mound against Ryne Stanek at 7:10 pm.

Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that Noah Syndergaard will start for the Brooklyn Cyclones on Sunday, a return before the All-Star break is certainly possible.

Yoenis Cespedes rested yesterday, but is expected to attempt more running and start baseball activities today.

Anthony Dicomo of reports that the Mets will push back Zack Wheeler‘s next start to Monday to avoid taxing the bullpen in Monday’s doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies.

In place of Wheeler, the Mets will call up a yet-to-be-determined minor league starter to face off against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.

Catcher Devin Mesoraco cleared the concussion protocol, but the team will monitor him over the next week.
