The Mets are promoting their 2018 first round pick, outfielder Jarred Kelenic, to Kingsport of the Appalachian League.

Kelenic, 19 this month, started his professional career with the Gulf Coast League Mets of the Rookie League, where he hit a robust .413/.451/.609 with one homer and nine RBI.

While he was superb against right-handed pitching in his time with the GCL Mets (1.029 OPS), what was most impressive was his ability to hit lefties well (1.125 OPS).

In the field, he also had 16 put outs and two outfield assists in just 12 games as well.
