With the San Diego Padres trading Brad Hand to the Cleveland Indians, the market surrounding Mets closer Jeurys Familia has begun to heat up.

As reported by Andy Martino of SNY, there are at least seven times interested in adding Familia, and there will be plenty of scouts on hand to watch Familia pitch during the Subway Series.

Fortunately for the Mets, Familia is in the midst of his best stretch of the season. In the Month of July, Familia has made seven scoreless appearances with a microscopic 0.286 WHIP while converting all three of his save chances.

Overall this season, Familia has a 2.88 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and has 43 strikeouts compared to 14 walks in 40.2 innings this season.

In his postseason career, Familia has a 2.03 ERA and a 0.638 WHIP in 13 appearances.

While Martino notes the Mets have begun the process of exchanging names with other teams, it is not known who those other teams are or what the Mets are interested in acquiring.

Ultimately, the team’s promises to pick up salary to obtain a better return will be put to the test with Familia owed the prorated portion of his $7.9 million salary.
