Morning Briefing: June’s Second Seven Game Losing Streak

Good morning Mets fans!

Last night, the Mets (31-45) fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates (37-41) by the score of 6-4 at Citi Field. It marked the teams seventh straight loss, the second such streak this month alone.

Tonight, the Mets will send Steven Matz (3-5, 3.68 ERA) to the hill to face off against the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chad Kuhl (5-5, 4.56 ERA). First pitch is at 7:10 pm.

Brandon Nimmo’s MRI results came back negative yesterday, and he won’t go on the disabled list. For now, he is considered day-to-day.

Prior to last nights ball game, the Mets called up RHP Tyler Bashlor, the hard throwing righty made his major league debut last night.

According to Matt Ehalt of The Record, Noah Syndergaard threw 15 pitches off a mound on Sunday and will throw off a mound again today. After that, he is slated to throw a live batting practice session on Friday.

Mets 3B David Wright took batting practice at Citi Field on Monday, he will travel with the team to Miami and continue his rehab in Port St. Lucie.

The Mets have agreed to a $1,038,000 bonus with third-rounder Carlos Cortes, per’s Jim Callis.
