Chris Beck Claimed Off Waivers, Will Join Mets In Arizona

Tim Healey of Newsday reports that the Mets claimed relief pitcher Chris Beck off waivers from the Chicago White Sox and he will join the team in Arizona tomorrow night.

The 27-year old had a 4.18 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings pitched (14 games). However, his FIP was 6.02 on the year, which suggests he is actually worse than what his stats have shown to date and his 5.94 career ERA would seem to be more in line with that.

The team has not announced corresponding moves (for the 25 and 40-man rosters).
