Bruce Dealing With Sore Back, Won’t Start Tomorrow

Mickey Callaway said after the game that Jay Bruce is dealing with a sore back and won’t start in tomorrow night’s contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks as a result.

On the year, he’s hitting .220/.298/.332 with only three home runs and 17 RBI to give him a below-average 75  wRC+ and -0.1 WAR.

The 31-year old has also been dealing with plantar fasciitis as well that could be derailing him. If this back soreness has been persistent this season, though, it is very possible Bruce’s back could have been contributing to his season-long struggles.
