Morning Briefing: Syndergaard Looks to Secure Series Sweep

Good morning Mets fans! The New York Mets came from behind last night to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 on a Wilmer Flores walk-ff sacrifice fly at Citi Field.

Today, the Mets look to secure the series sweep as Noah Syndergaard and Clay Bucholz take the mound at 1:10 p.m. at Citi Field. The game can be seen on PIX11 and heard on 710 WOR.

The Mets announced that they have recalled RHP Chris Flexen and catcher Tomas Nido from Triple-A Las Vegas. They optioned LHP Buddy Baumann down to Vegas and designated Jose Lobaton for assignment.

The Mets are so impressed with catcher Devin Mesoraco and the way he prepares for starts, that they want Nido to observe him. Nido will make the start on Sunday afternoon.

Todd Frazier told reporters yesterday that there is no timetable for his return, and though it has not been scheduled yet he will have a rehab assignment.

Mets first base prospect Dominic Smith made his first pro appearance in the outfield last night, as he played right field for the Las Vegas 51s.
