Morning Briefing: A Brave Double-Dip

Good morning Mets fans! The Mets head to Atlanta today for a doubleheader with the Braves. The first game is scheduled for 1:10 PM EST as Jacob deGrom (4-0 1.54 ERA) looks to continue his dominance as he faces off against Max Fried (0-2 6.00 ERA). The second game is scheduled for 7:10 PM EST and the Mets starter has yet to be announced.

Yesterday, the Mets (25-24) lost to the Milwaukee Brewers (34-20) by a score of 8-7 as the bullpen blew the lead again, which allowed the Mets to drop three of the four games in Milwaukee.

Wilmer Flores is heading back to New York to receive tests on his sore lower back. Phillip Evans is heading to Atlanta to just in case the slugging infielder needs to go on the disabled list.

Tim Britton of The Athletic reports that in addition to Phillip Evans, the Mets will be sending Kevin Plawecki, Hansel Robles, and Gerson Bautista to Atlanta with the team, all of them being options for activation.

As per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the Mets are taking precaution with reliever AJ Ramos and have decided to send him back to New York to have his right shoulder checked out.

The Mets have decided, with a doubleheader today, to send down Chris Flexen and recall a fresh arm in the form of P.J. Conlon, according to Tim Britton of The Athletic.

Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com reports that Yoenis Cespedes started running on Friday for the first time since going on the disabled list with a strained right hip flexor on May 16.

Todd Frazier (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas this week, per John Ricco. And RHP Anthony Swarzak (oblique) is not far behind him.

Yesterday, The Las Vegas 51s teamed up with Make A Wish to help grant Max’s wish to be a New York Mets baseball player come true.
