Plawecki Leaves Game, X-Rays Come Up Negative

Kevin Plawecki left tonight’s game in the eighth inning after being hit in the left hand by a fastball from Tayron Guerrero. He initially stayed in the game and ran the bases, before being removed before his next at-bat that would have happened in the same inning.

This news comes just hours after the team placed Travis d’Arnaud on the 10-day DL with a torn UCL, so the thought of losing both catchers in one day is certainly a scary concept.

However, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that Plawecki received X-rays and the results came up negative. With that being the case, the catcher is likely day-to-day.

Tomas Nido replaced him in the game and would be in line to start on Friday if Plawecki’s hand does not respond well by then.

Fortunately, the team has an off day tomorrow, so he will get at least one day of rest.
