Jacob deGrom Set to Make His First Start Sunday

Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com reports that the Mets have scheduled Jacob deGrom to make his Spring Training debut on Sunday.

The right-hander has been dealing with back stiffness this spring that has left his status for Opening Day in question.

The Mets have committed to not rushing him back in order to start the first game of the season, but this is a positive development for the 29-year old.

deGrom went 15-10 with a 3.53 ERA and 3.50 FIP last season. In 201.1 innings he struck out 239 and walked 59, pitching to a 1.187 WHIP. He finished 8th in Cy Young Award voting.
