Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline has released the site’s Top 30 prospects in the Mets farm system.  Like others, Mayo is down on the Mets farm system citing both health issues and what in his opinion is a farm system devoid of Rookie of the Year type prospects.  Ultimately, MLB Pipeline’s Top 30 list is:

To put it mildly, the MLB Pipeline list is quite shocking.  Players like Becerra and Carpio have suffered potentially career-altering shoulder injuries, ones which had an impact on their 2018 performance, and they were ranked as if they were still progressing through the Mets farm system without a hitch.  The same goes for Sanchez, who has had season-ending hand injuries in successive years.

Overall, what really stands out is the failure to include Tyler Bashlor.  Certainly, the Mets value him quite highly as the team added him to the 40 man roster this past offseason to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft.  However, it goes quite beyond that as Bashlor was the guy who was tabbed as the Binghamton closer as the team made a push for the postseason.  Not only did Bashlor thrive in those pressure-filled situations, but in an admittedly small sample size, he made progress with his control.

Ultimately, time will tell about whether MLB Pipeline was correct in their rankings.
