Baseball America and Keith Law of ESPN released their top prospect lists. Although Law only published his top 51-100 prospects, he listed 2017 draftee David Peterson as 58th best on his list.  Meanwhile, Baseball America released their top-100 list and put Andres Gimenez 94th in their rankings.

Mark Feinsand of believes that Mike Moustakas could be signed to a one-year deal at a high AAV. Moustakas entered the offseason as the premier third baseman, but hasn’t seen his market develop as expected.

Fangraphs‘s readers ranked the Mets’s ownership as the 29th worst in the MLB. wrote about the 9th, 10th, and 11th best prospects in the Mets farm system.

MMO’s own Jacob Resnick reports that the Mets have signed utility man Ty Kelly to a contract that includes an invite to major-league spring training. Resnick also reports that the Diamondbacks have agreed on a minor-league contract with former-Met Fernando Salas.

Contrary to previous reports over the weekend that reported the Mets were interested in signing Bartolo Colon, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reported a front-office source told her that these rumors were unfounded.

The San Francisco Giants signed outfielder Austin Jackson to a two-year deal worth six million dollars. “AJax” appeared for the Cleveland Indians last year and hit surprisingly well as shown by his .318/.387/.482 slash-line.

Cubs signed catcher Chris Gimenez to a minor-league deal.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic talked to Max Scherzer, Jerry BlevinsChris Iannetta, Paul Goldschmidt and Daniel Murphy, who believe MLB isn’t implementing their pace of play rules correctly.

The Cubs announced the resigning of relief pitching Brian Duensing.

According to Jerry Cransick of ESPN, Yu Darvish has received a five-year offer from an unknown team.

Jay Cohen of the Associated Press reports that Darvish also is engaged in “active talks” with the Chicago Cubs.

Longtime Braves mascot “Homer the Brave” is headed for retirement as the Braves announced that they will reveal a new one during this year’s FanFest.

The NL East was well-represented in Baseball America’s prospect rankings. Led by #1 ranked Ronald Acuna, the Braves topped the list with eight top-100 prospects. Six Phillies prospects appeared on the rankings while the Nationals and Marlins had two players each.

John Sheridan notes that the Mets still have a gap at second base and profiles players who are on 40-man roster that could fill it.

Rob Piersall compares free-agent infielder Eduardo Nunez and incumbent second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera.
