Morning Briefing: Mets Coaching Staff Taking Shape

Today marks the second day of the 2017-18 offseason. Baseball fans are still buzzing about the World Series — Game 7 was the best-watched baseball game since the 2002 World Series Game 7 between the Angels and the Giants.

Ruben Amaro Jr., former General Manager of the Philadelphia Phillies, is the new Mets first base coach. He had been first base coach for the Red Sox the past two seasons.

Tom Goodwin has left the Mets to serve as the Red Sox’ first base coach and outfield instructor.

MLB Trade Rumors predicts that the Mets will sign free agent third baseman Todd Frazier this offseason.

After getting passed up for both the the Mets’ and Nationals’ manager positions, Kevin Long left the Mets and was named hitting coach for the Washington Nationals, joining former Met Daniel Murphy. That stings.
