Major League Baseball announced today that the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays will play their three-game series from Monday, September 11 to Wednesday, September 13 at Citi Field.
The series was original scheduled to be played at Tropicana Field in Tampa but concerns stemming from Hurricane Irma made MLB move it.
Major League Baseball considered other cities such as Baltimore, however lack of hotel rooms on short notice became an issue.
The Yankees currently hold a 2.5 game lead for the first Wild Card spot while the Rays are 3.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins for the second spot.
