New York Mets starter Jacob deGrom left his start on Thursday night against the Philadelphia Phillies after getting hit with a Nick Williams line drive off his right triceps.
The liner came off deGrom’s 100th pitch of the night with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Mets had a 7-0 lead over the Phillies at the time.
Erik Goeddel came in and got the final out of the inning to strand two runners and give deGrom 6.2 scoreless innings.
Jacob had been cruising the entire game with only four hits allowed, zero walks and nine strikeouts. He’s in line to improve to 6-0 in his career against the Phillies.
