Morning Briefing: Trade Winds Swirling, Does Cabrera Go First?

Good Morning, Mets fans! Tonight, the New York Mets will host the Oakland Athletics in an inter-league matchup. A rematch of the 1973 World Series for those who were around for that.

The game yesterday afternoon was a weird win to say the least. Seth Lugo was strong but stumbled late. The offense only had Lucas Duda‘s home run until the eighth. Down 2-1, Wilmer Flores homered coming off the bench to tie it. The following inning, the Mets won it on a mental error by Trevor Rosenthal.

Some Metscellaneous Notes

Lucas Duda slugged  his 17th home run of the year…It was his 125th career home run with the Mets moving him into sole possession of seventh place (ahead of Todd Hundley) on the club’s all-time home run list…Duda has three home runs in his last five games…He is hitting .348 (8-23) with three doubles, three home runs and six RBI in the second half.

The Mets have won 12 of Seth Lugo’s last 14 starts dating to August 25, 2016…Lugo is 9-2 with a 3.32 ERA (31 earned runs/84.0 innings) during those 14 starts.
