Nimmo Heading To PSL, Will Miss 2-3 Weeks With Strained Hamstring

As I suspected, Brandon Nimmo did suffer a strained right hamstring. Team Italy’s manager Marco Mazzieri confirmed the news with James Wagner of the New York Times. As such, Nimmo is expected to be out for a few weeks with a Grade 1 strain.

According to the team this morning, Nimmo is en route to Port St. Lucie where he will be reevaluated by team doctors. An official announcement will come shortly after that exam is completed.

Original Report

While chasing down a triple by Mike Aviles for Team Puerto Rico, Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo appears to have suffered an apparent leg injury.

Nimmo, who was starting in center field for Team Italy, left the game holding the back of his right thigh on the next play. It seems like a potential hamstring injury, but it could also just be a cramp due to dehydration.

A first round pick for the Mets in 2011, Nimmo was hoping to lock down the fifth outfielder spot and make the opening day roster.

We’ll update this post once we learn more.
