Original Report September 16th –

The Minnesota Twins are expected to ask the New York Mets for permission to speak to assistant general manager John Ricco for a baseball operations role in their front office, according to La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Ricco, is one of Sandy Alderson’s top lieutenants and considered by many to be the heir apparent for the general manager position once Alderson steps down.

Minnesota has also reportedly looked at other candidates, many like Ricco without any GM experience.

Ricco is one of the longest tenured executives in the Mets front office and has been with the organization since 2004, and in his current position as assistant GM since 2006.
