What You Should Know

Juan Lagares was the man tonight. He turned in the first 4-hit effort of his short major league career and scored 3 runs along the way out of the leadoff spot.

Jon Niese turned in a less than impressive outing but was able to muscle through 6 innings of work despite not having his best stuff. He improves to 8-10 as the offense picked him up. His final line includes 10 hits, 6 earned runs and just 4 strikeouts. Niese’s counterpart Brad Penny lasted just 3 innings.

wilmer floresDavid Wright and Travis d’Arnaud each contributed three hit games as they both try to end the season strong. Two of Wright’s hits were doubles, his first extra-base hits since Aug. 7th.

Carlos Torres, Jeurys Familia and Jenrry Mejia each worked a scoreless inning, giving up just a single hit over that span. Mejia struck out two of the three batters he faced in dominating fashion.

Every Mets starter (including Niese!) had a hit except Dilson Herrera and Curtis Granderson.

Two games down in Miami. 29 runs scored. So far, the Mets and Marlins have scored a combined 29 runs in this series.

1988. I was born in 1988 and as Mets fans we all know what that means. I lived through 1969 by hearing old stories from Tom Seaver and relived 1986 over and over in my head, pretending I was there as the final out was recorded. Being a Mets fan isn't easy and it isn't always fun but all of the bad will make the good so much sweeter. Baseball games aren't sprints and neither is building a winning team. I'm here for the long haul. Let's Go Mets!
