Braves Beat The Mets 3-1 To Complete Sweep

The New York Mets (37-48) took on the Atlanta Braves (47-38) tonight at Turner Field with Jacob deGrom squaring off against Julio Teheran. The Mets looked to salvage the final game of a three game series with their division rivals, before returning home after playing four out of their last five series on the road.

What you should know:

The Braves got off to an early start in the bottom of the first inning with the bases loaded, as Chris Johnson hit a three-run double, driving in B.J. Upton, Andrelton Simmons, and Freddie Freeman.

After a stolen base and a wild pitch, the Mets added a run in the top of the fourth, as Curtis Granderson hit a sacrifice fly to score Eric Young, Jr.

Jacob deGrom got off to a rough start, but after the Braves three-run first inning, he settled down and found his groove, striking out eight batters over six innings.

Julio Teheran had a sparkling outing for Atlanta, pitching seven innings allowing only one run on four hits, striking out five and walking three.

The Mets offense was almost non-existent tonight as they only managed five hits, as the Braves sweep the Mets in three games. The Mets are now 10 games out of first place and hold a 37-48 record.

On deck:

The Mets start a ten game homestand leading into the All-Star Game Friday night, as the Mets host the Texas Rangers with Jonathan Niese (5-4, 2.28 ERA) facing off against Nick Tepesch (3-3, 3.65 ERA)
