Broken Finger Wipes Out Ramon Martinez reports that Mets backup shortstop, Ramon Martinez was removed from the Mets’ 3-1 loss to the Pirates on Tuesday night at PNC Park after the fifth inning, when he suffered a dislocated left pinky on an awkward, but successful slide into the plate.

Martinez’s scored on a sacrifice fly by Luis Castillo. His slide was part tumble. He seemed to touch the plate with his right toe as he slid past catcher Jason Jaramillo.

Jerry Manuel said Martinez will be going to New York to be examined by a doctor and could be placed on the DL.

The Mets continue to drop like flies.
