Mets Matters: What About “That” Guy?
For better or worse, Michael Bourn fell off the New York Mets radar Monday when he agreed to a four-year, $48 million deal with the Cleveland Indians. Mets/MLB beat writer Anthony DiComo suggests, if history is any indication, Sandy Alderson committed an error. DiComo wrote: The 11th overall Draft pick has a bizarre history of busts relative to the picks around it. Of the 48 players in history taken 11th overall, only five have amassed [...]

Can’t You Picture This?
So by now, everyone has heard the news that Mike Pelfrey will not be tendered this off-season. This allows him to freely seek employment with other teams. The day this was announced (Tuesday I believe), I happened to be listening to the Boomer and Carton Radio Show while I was driving in my car. Boomer said something that immediately resonated with me, and probably many other Mets fans that were listening at that time. He [...]

Is This the End of Mike Pelfrey’s Tenure with the Mets?
As it is looking more and more like a certainty that Mike Pelfrey will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the rest of the 2012 season, it is time to wonder if the start that Pelfrey made on April 21 was the last time that we will see him in a New York Mets uniform. It seemed as if Pelfrey had figured things out through the early part of the year. He looked good in [...]

The New Look Mets Bench: Juggling Act
As has been a recurring theme in the Mets last few years, the injury bug has hit and its done a drastic reshaping on the entire roster in a matter of three weeks. How will the Mets manage to handle the loss of key players, with the addition of new, younger players who are talented, but untried at the MLB level. With the rash of injuries on the offensive side of the ball, the Mets [...]

It Is Time To Do Something About Mike Pelfrey
I mentioned in my introduction post that the Mets might want to consider moving Mike Pelfrey to the bullpen. Now I am saying that it is time that they do something. It’s become increasingly difficult to rely on him in the starting rotation. One thing the Mets may want to try is to move him to the bullpen. Give him the long-relief role, that way he can still eat innings for the Mets. In most long relief [...]

Introduction And Random Thoughts
I am a new writer here, so I thought to start off, before talking Mets, I would introduce myself. I am a 19-year old college student. I have been a fan of the Mets my entire life, but sadly I have not been able to see them win it all. I have had the privilege to go to quite a few games, although I have only been able to go to one game at CitiField. [...]

Would Mark Buehrle Be A Good Option For The Mets?
Update: According to Scott Merkin of MLB.com, if the White Sox cut payroll as expected, it’s likely that either John Danks or Mark Buehrle will not return in 2012. Looking at the free agent market for starting pitchers can be quite depressing. As of this writing it’s not known whether C.C. Sabathia will be a free agent. The next best free agent pitcher after C.C. assuming he opts-out is C.J. Wilson of the Texas Rangers and it’s widely believed Wilson [...]

Could We Be Seeing Mike Pelfrey’s Last Starts In A Mets Uniform?
For the past few seasons it was believed that Mets starter Mike Pelfrey had the goods to be a top of the rotation type starter. Last season he had his best season as a pro as he won 15 games against just 9 losses. His career low 3.66 ERA and dominance for most of the season warranted thoughts that he had finally put it together. Mets fans had dreams of slotting him behind Santana as the number 2 starter. [...]
