Marlon Anderson Designated For Assignment

No surprise here, but as expected the New York Mets have designated pinch-hitting specialist and reserve outfielder, Marlon Anderson for assignment. The Mets made the announcement this afternoon to make room for tonights starter, Livan Hernandez. If Anderson clears waivers, he can either accept a spot at Triple-A Buffalo or become a free agent. Manuel Hints That Marlon Anderson Is Out

It looks like Marlon Anderson will be the odd man out when the Mets clear a roster spot fpr the addition of Livan Hernandex. Hernandez will make his Mets debut Saturday against Ricky Nolasco. Breaking News: Mets Sign Gary Sheffield

Joe and Evan of the morning show on WFAN, are reporting that Gary Sheffield could be signing with the Mets by tonight. They believe that one of the reasons the Mets are interested in Sheffield is because he would be able to hit his historic 500th homerun with Mets.
