Update 2/15 – Thanks to everyone who helped us get by in February and it looks like we’re going to have the money to pay our bills in March too! We’ve also paid off almost half of our new server! I really appreciate the support, and you have no idea how all those ten dollar donations add up and really do help. Our next goal is to make it to Opening Day and April. Mets Merized Online is a non-profit website dedicated to the fans of the New York Mets. Just like any website, we do incur charges for hosting, domain name, design/development, server maintenance, etc. I have never asked anyone to donate anything other than their time when visiting our unique and original Mets site. I took great pleasure in creating a site where Mets fans can share their opinions with other Mets fans, read our original content, vote in our polls, enjoy our graphics, and participate in our chats for the ultimate Mets fan experience.
However, in the past few weeks we have experienced several outages and crashes due to our increasing traffic and spikes. It was only last August that we upgraded out hosting service to its maximum capacity at great expense. We hoped that the latest upgrade would hold us for at least 18-24 months, but sadly we outgrew it in less than 4 months. We have outgrown all forms of shared hosting, and are currently hanging on a thread.
After speaking with several experts, they unanimously agreed that a dedicated server was the only solution. To make a long story short, our operating costs will now rise by over 400%, and the bottom line is that we can not afford these costs with out your help.
By contributing to the site, you will help make it possible for us to continue without any further daily outages or interruptions. Although our traffic ranks up there with some of the other major sports sites, we do not have any corporate sponsors that cover all the operational costs like they do. Hopefully, someday we will.
