Angel Pagan Activated, Delgado To DL

Adam Rubin is on top of things today and is now reporting that Angel Pagan will be activated from the DL and be in uniform for tonight’s game. He writes, Angel Pagan will be in uniform Saturday when the Mets face the Giants, replacing Carlos Delgado (hip impingement) on the active roster, the Daily News has learned. Pagan had mid-March surgery to remove a bone spur from his right, throwing elbow. He hit .286 with [...]

Mets Not Freaked Out, They Beat The Giants 8-6

Lincecum, Schmincecum… That’s all the Mets had to say as they completed their biggest comeback of the season and beat the Giants 8-6 on Friday night. It was a game that featured many layers of clutch hitting, clutch baserunning, clutch fielding and a little bit of luck on this very Freaky Friday. Livan Hernandez started and he was opposed by Tim Lincecum in what looked to be a major league mismatch, and after the first two [...]

5/15 Minor League Report! Fernando, Thole, Rustich!

Buffalo 6, Gwinnett 5, Game 1 Michael Antonini’s meteoric rise through the system took him to the highest minor league level tonight, a year after he was pitching for the Savannah Sand Gnats in the South Atlantic League, the lowest full season league in organized baseball. And while he has struggled in Binghamton this year, the ascent itself is quite an accomplishment. He ran into massive trouble with the AAA Braves, though, giving up 5 [...]

Tim Redding To Start On Monday

According to Bart Hubbuch of the NY Post, Tim Redding will come off the DL and make his first start of the season on Monday against the Dodgers. He also writes, Redding, the former National who was signed to a one-year, $2.25 million deal in the offseason, has been sidelined since early in spring training with a strain in his right rotator cuff. Redding will square off against Dodgers lefty Randy Wolf, whom the Mets [...]

Reyes Out Of Lineup Again and Other Mets Notes

Shortstop Jose Reyes will miss his second consecutive game due to a right calf injury. Reyes did say that it was feeling better than yesterday so the condition is improving. Carlos Delgado will also miss another game with his hip injury, and questions still swirl about regarding his status for the rest of the season. I am somewhat concerned that the bench will be short again tonight, but that never became an issue last night. [...]

NL East Weekday Roundup

Atlanta Braves (Record in last 10 games, 6-4; games gained/lost on div. leader in last 10 games, -2) I think you know what the braves were up to this week on the field. Off the field however, they called up Kris Medlen to take Jo-Jo Reyes’s spot in the rotation after he lasted 3 innings Wednesday. The Braves also released three minor leaguers, including Chen En Hung. Hung is a 21-year-old pitcher from Taiwan who [...]

Opinion: What’s The Deal With Jose Reyes?

Yesterday Jose Reyes was the big topic of conversation and it was due mostly to a couple of reasons. The first being, his erratic decisions while running the bases (or trotting), and the second big flare up came when the news hit that a stiff calf would keep him out of the lineup. The radio call-in shows were hit with waves of trade Jose Reyes calls and even our site had plenty of comments that suggested [...]

The Maine Thing Is, Mets Win

I know what they say – you win as a team and you lose as a team. And trust me, I’m the last one to put an individual player’s statistics and milestones ahead of what’s best for the team. However, I feel that Major League Baseball needs to do something to properly reward a starting pitcher for a quality performance when he leaves with the lead after 5 plus innings and his bullpen comes in and blows it [...]

Mets Steal First Game From Giants 7-4

The Mets had another unlikely win last night that saw them come from behind and take the lead with three runs in the ninth inning and then hang on for the 7-4 win. The go-ahead run scored after Carlos Beltran doubled and then stole third base in the ninth. David Wright then drove home Beltran with a single that dropped into shallow right field. Ramon Castro drove in Wright and Gary Sheffield later into add to the [...]

Memo to Mets Fans: Enough With The Negativity Already.

I must be stupid. I just checked the standings and unless I forgot how to read them, it appears that we are in first place by 2 games and have won 10 out of our last 13. However, based on comments and suggestions by fellow Mets ‘fans’ one would think we were in last place 10 games back. Based on the overall negativity and lambasting of our own team, I sometimes think I went to [...]
