Where’s The Justice?
Not much going on today as far as Mets news goes. If you want to relive the horror of the 2009 season, you can always tune into MLB Network’s Hot Stove Tonight for a retrospective of the Mets season. There’s also some rumblings from Fox Sports that figures Jermaine Dye could be a good fit for the Mets at first base, a position he has played once in the last decade. Thanks, but no thanks. The [...]

Breaking Down The Mets Bullpen: Bobby Parnell
Prior to the 2009 season, Bobby Parnell knew that he was, by no means, guaranteed to make the Opening Day roster. Nonetheless, he worked hard and pitched very well in Spring Training, which him earned a spot on the 25-man roster. His role with the team was supposed to be the seventh inning bridge to J.J. Putz and Francisco Rodriguez, and foor the first half of the year his role on the team was just [...]

Apparently Every MLB Player Is On The Trading Block
I was actually going to name this post “Add Miguel Cabrera To The Trading Block”, but then I thought, why not add everybody else too? That’s right, everybody is on the trading block, and that includes young and affordable stars like Felix Hernandez, and Evan Longoria, as well as the cream of the crop players like Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera. According to all of my sources, and I have just as many as everyone else, [...]

A Nightmarish Scenario
Did some of you catch Adam Rubin’s column this morning in the Daily News? Well I did, and it made me feel quite woozy afterward. Adam revealed a potential Mets backup option if they were to fail to get either Matt Holliday or Jason Bay. Meet Plan C? That’s Jose Guillen, currently of the Kansas City Royals. The same Jose Guillen who has worn out his welcome with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Tampa Bay Rays, Arizona Diamondbacks, [...]

Fernando Martinez Is Back
Mets top prospect, 21 year old Fernando Martinez, is back on the field playing for Leones del Escogido of the Dominican Winter League. On Friday night he played the entire game in left field, going 0 for 4. On Saturday, Fernando was the DH and went 1 for 4 with a single and RBI. Fernando had surgery in July for a torn meniscus. He is currently rated by Baseball America as the Mets third best [...]

CitiField Getting A Mets Makeover In 2010 – FINALLY!
Changes are afoot at Citi Field and according to the team’s website, the Mets announced plans to expand the presence of club history at Citi Field next season. This was no doubt spurned on by the thousands of disappointed fans who felt the park paid more homage to the Dodgers than it did to the Mets. Here are some of the key changes as described on Mets.com RENAMING OF AREAS IN BALLPARK The Mets will rename and [...]

You Want Grission? Here It Is On A Platter…
Yesterday, former Mets catcher Paul Lo Duca appeared on Sirius XM 175 MLB Home Plate. His comments were transcribed by Adam Rubin of the Daily News and are shown below. After missing all of 2009 with injuries, Lo Duca says he is healthy and ready to return to the game and fill whatever role the signing team needs including that of backup catcher and righthanded bat off the bench. Paul Lo Duca: “I’m completely healthy. I [...]

We Want Action, Not Words
As we all know by now, Wallace Matthews wrote yet another column bashing the Mets. And we, as fans, have every right to be angry. We have every right to boycott Matthews and use our Newsday for our fireplaces. But did we even take the time to consider that maybe, just maybe, Wallace Matthews might be right for a change? The Mets made a blip on the playoff radar in 2006, but lost thanks to [...]

Newsday’s Wallace Matthews Trashes The Mets
Newsday columnist Wallace Matthews often writes about the state and fate of the Mets. And he is rarely ever complimentary. Today is no different as he totally lashes into the Mets organization. As a Mets fan, I find his article exaggerated and offensive. In summary, he says that the Mets are wasting their time trying to retool for 2010 and that by doing so management is “creating the illusion of being competitive without actually being [...]
