2010 Mets Coaching Staff

The New York Mets have completed their 2010 Major League coaching staff this week. New additions include Dave Jauss as bench coach and Chip Hale as third base coach. Among the incumbents, Razor Shines, the third base coach in 2009, moves to first base, while Howard Johnson (hitting coach), Dan Warthen (pitching coach) and Randy Niemann (bullpen coach) will continue in their same roles. Also, the Mets also named Terry Collins, who is in his 40th [...]

Giving Thanks for the Mets

Yeah, it’s been difficult being a Mets fan these last few seasons.  But that doesn’t mean we don’t love our team.  Here are a few things I am thankful for as we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow: David Wright, Carlos Beltran and Johan Santana: Yes, Wright forgot how to hit home runs, and the other two guys missed a big chunk of 2009, but we still have a nice core of all-stars.  Some teams don’t. The [...]

Miguel Cabrera or Adrian Gonzalez: Who Fits Better Into The Mets’ Future?

Before you read any further I would like to issue a disclaimer of sorts. Despite all the buzz around the internet suggesting that Adrian Gonzalez and/or Miguel Cabrera, I don’t believe that either will be traded this off-season. Furthermore, I would like to go out on a limb and say that even if they were to be traded, I don’t see the Mets on the receiving end of either of the potential deals. Think about [...]

NY Post’s Bart Hubbuch Answers Some Hot Stove Questions

Bart Hubbuch of the NY Post was gracious enough to honor our request to answer a few reader submitted questions for us. He does an excellent job of covering the Mets all year long and is a valuable source of information both in the regular season and the hot stove season as well. I hope you enjoy what I believe is a great read on another slow Mets news day. Enjoy…   Last off season, Omar Minaya [...]

MMO Awards: 2009 Results!

As we all wonder who’s dining room table Omar Minaya will attempt to sit at on Thursday as he makes his plea for that player to come to Citi Field, let’s take a look back at the woeful 2009 season. If you remember, back in early September we compiled a list of awards that we plan on handing out after every Mets season. Personally, I think it’s a lot easier to give out awards when [...]

Mets Considering Ben Sheets, But Not Rich Harden

On Sunday, Bill Madden of the Daily News created a stir in Mets circles when he reported that the Mets will only have about $20 million to spend this offseason. Not nearly enough for the Mets to address their myriad of problems. He said that the Mets should not be considered as bidders for free agents Matt Holliday, Jason Bay and John Lackey and that they will certainly reduce payroll from last season. He believes that the [...]

Citi Field Is A-Changin’

Before 2009 turned into a nightmare year for the Mets, their fans we were excited.  Aaron Heilman was gone, the Mets signed K-Rod and added J.J. Putz to the bullpen and they were opening up a new ballpark.  For the final 2 seasons Shea Stadium saw the Mets playoff dreams evaporate on the last day of the season, we were hoping that the demons of Shea were gone with our brand new ball park. Citi [...]

Hey All You Kids Out There, Keith Is Back!

According to the incomparable Marty Noble of Mets.com, SNY and Keith Hernandez have finally reached an agreement, and the most colorful color commentator (with apologies to Lindsay Nelson’s jackets) in Mets broadcast history will return in 2010 and 2011. A person familiar with the situation said on Monday that Hernandez and SNY, the Mets’ cable station, have agreed in principle on a contract that will extend the color commentator’s relationship with the club and the network through at least [...]
