Trading Wright is the Wrong Move
Earlier this week, Mike Francesa suggested trading David Wright because he is nowhere to be found in pressure games. This idea to me is laughable, mainly because 25-year-old Gold Glove 3rd baseman who average 29 homers and 114 RBI and hit over .300 in their first four seasons grow on trees. Don’t we wish? So I wrote a little something I hope you will enjoy. Omar Minaya sits in his office and watches as Shea [...]

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that Jerry Manuel has agreed on a two year contract and a team option for the third. The details of the deal has not been made public yet, so stay tuned for more. This news comes a few days after Omar Minaya says he will probably pick up the option for Carlos Delgado. UPDATE: FOX Sports confirms… FOXsports.com is reporting that Jerry Manuel will remain New York Mets manager [...]

Are The Mets Setting Their Sights On C.C. Sabathia?
There was interesting article this morning in the Record by Bob Klapisch, who suggests that their may be full-fledged bidding war between the Mets and Yankees for the services of C.C. Sabathia, He writes, The Yankees and Mets worlds are about to collide over their competition for CC Sabathia. The prize? CC Sabathia, who despite getting lit up by the Phillies on Thursday night is still the medicine both teams need to rebuild their respective [...]

Will Omar Deliver K-Rod To Mets Fans?
Sometimes the New York media can be too brash, overbearing and relentless in their criticism of the Mets players and management. But, every now and then they can be very useful in how they can put pressure on a team to react to the demands of the fan base. It looks like this offseason, the local sports writers will be driving home the point of why the Mets have to get Angels closer Frankie Rodriguez [...]

So Long, Big Shea
Well we are four days removed from the final game of the season and the final game of Shea Stadium. I’ve had time to digest the fateful end am beginning to digest what happened this season. I was very lucky to have had the opportunity to attend the final game and closing ceremonies at Shea Stadium. My father and I had amazing seats in the Loge section immediately behind the plate. I firmly believe that [...]

Do We Have a Rivalry with Philly?
About a week and a half ago, I was in a hurry so I grabbed a quick meal in my school’s cafeteria, and on TV was sportscenter. They were showing the Baseball races and I was watching it, and this guy next to me started cursing about the Mets and tried to see if I agreed with him that they stunk and that the Phillies were better. I turned around and then he realized I [...]

How Do We Fix The Mets?
Bryan Heyman of the Journal News had an interesting take on his five fixes for the New York Mets. Let me show you what he had and then I will add a couple of my own to his list. 1. Revamp the poison pen: Trade for a veteran closer, although the Mets appear wary of handing Francisco Rodriguez too many years in a free-agent deal. Keep Brian Stokes, Joe Smith and Bobby Parnell as the [...]

Johan Santana Wins Pitcher of the Month
Johan Santana has won the National League Pitcher of the Month Award for September. As reported on MLB.com, Santana finished the month 4-0 with a 1.83 ERA. The left-hander will receive a specially-designed trophy to commemorate his Pitcher of the Month performance. Santana won that award five times for Minnesota in the American League when Ron Gardenhire was his manager. “Believe me, they have the best pitcher in baseball,” Gardenhire said. “A stud, an athlete, [...]

Should They Stay Or Should They Go
The following is a list of current Mets players. I’m thinking the Mets are going to hang on to their core players and basically do some major house cleaning as well. I have analyzed each player based just on my gut feeling, on a scale of 1-5. (1 means they are as good as gone, and 5 that they are practically untouchable) I only rated six players as untouchable, and believe it or not one of them was [...]

2009 Is Gonna Be “Gangsta”
It was like the movie Groundhog Day. Except instead of waking up to Sonny & Cher every morning, once again, we are waking up the day after the Mets were eliminated from playoff contention in the last game of the season. Last year was heartbreaking because the lead lost and this year was heartbreaking because it was the final game at Shea. However, I am not as devastated as I was last year. I had [...]

Shea It Ain’t So
Being so caught up in the Mets-Marlins and Cub-Brewers games, I didn’t even bother to notice that the Phillies also won yesterday, pushing the Mets back to finishing three games behind in the National League East. It basically would have taken four more wins during the season to take the division, but still only one more win to force a one game playoff with the Brewers for the Wild Card, and two more wins to [...]
