Mets Players Injured, Fans Hurting
Along with the state-of-the-art scoreboards and sound system, top-notch restaurant amenities and beautifully manicured baseball field, there is one other notable offering at Citi Field. It is available only to the players, however, the fans are the ones affected by it. It is the curse of Citi Field. I don’t believe in superstition. There is no God of Baseball to wear a headdress for and dance around a campfire while chanting stupid lyrics. But something is [...]

Past the Point of Ridiculous.
There really isn’t much else to say. Frankly, the only reason to watch a Mets game now is to enjoy Gary, Keith & Ron. How sad is that? I have never in my life experienced or seen a team that at one point in the season had it’s entire main core of players, all on the DL. Jose Reyes, Carlos Delgado, Carlos Beltran, David Wright and Johan Santana. They WERE the Mets. That’s our core. [...]

Mets Recall Up Nick Evans And Pat Misch
With two roster spots open after Wagner was dealt to the Red Sox earlier today and Santana having season ending surgery, Mets have recalled up LF Nick Evans and LHP Pat Misch. Nick Evans played for the Mets earlier this season after Fernando Martinez got injured. Nick Evans is batting .250 with 1 homerun and 6 RBIs. Pat Misch was recently sent down after activating Wagner, but will be called back up. Misch has a [...]

Santana Out For Season With Elbow Surgery
The Mets got a bit of bad news and good news after the results of Johan Santana’s MRI came back only minutes ago. According to a Mets press release, Johan Santana will require minor elbow surgery that will shut him down for the rest of this season. The good news is that he is expected to make a full recovery by the time pitchers and catchers report next spring. I know surgery is never a [...]

Let’s Play A Little Role Reversal, Shall We?
The Mets played one heck of a series against the Phillies this weekend, sweeping Philly and securing their lead atopthe NL East, pushing the Phillies back 16.5 games in the division. At this point, don’t be surprised if the Nats don’t pass the current 4th place team. Then their only hope would be to play spoiler. What a series for this Mets team, that is simply on fire. Who would have guessed at the start of the season, Johan Santana would [...]

Wagner Traded To Red Sox For Two Prospects
According to a Tweet from SNY news director Brad Como, Billy Wagner has indeed been traded. SNY has learned that the Mets have traded Billy Wagner to the Red Sox for 2 players to be named later. The news is also being reported on the Mets flagship radio station, 660 WFAN. I’m anxious to learn all the details and if the Mets had to kick in any cash to complete the deal. I reported earlier that [...]

It Was A Memorable 1969 Tribute
I have to hand it to the New York Mets for doing an excellent job of putting that 1969 Mets tribute together. It was so touching to see all those great Mets of the past, together again for one last time. Unfortunately, many of those who played for the Amazin’s in that magical season have passed on, but I’m sure they were smiling down on their former teammates and even helped to hold back the [...]

A Last Ditch Effort and Olney Puts The ESP Into ESPN
WFAN is reporting that the Mets are trying to convince Billy Wagner to reconsider his stance on invoking his no-trade clause at this moment. They must really be hooked on whatever the Red Sox were offering… Either that or they just want to shed that $3.5 million dollars left on their obligation to Wagner. My guess is that it’s the latter… Jon Heyman of SI.com, also confirms that the Mets are making a last ditch effort [...]

Wilpon’s Decision Means More Dysfunction In 2010
By now most of us have heard the bad news that Mets owner Fred Wilpon has assured Met fans that embattled GM Omar Minaya will absolutely be back next season. Omar’s return also makes it a pretty good bet that joke of a manager Jerry Manuel will be back too. If you’re the Wilpon family, its pretty much a no brainer to bring Omar back. Omar has made the Wilpons tons of money, all while helping [...]
