Arte Moreno announced that he is no longer looking to sell the Angels and will continue to own the franchise for the foreseeable future. Moreno had stated back in June that he was going to explore selling the team, but he released a statement Monday saying that he realized he isn’t ready to leave the team behind.

Five Mets prospects were ranked in Baseball Prospectus‘ Top 101 Prospects that were released on Friday. Catchers Francisco Álvarez and Kevin Parada checked in at Nos. 4 and 64, respectively, and Brett Baty was ranked at No. 17. Shortstop Jett Williams was listed at number 75, and outfielder Alex Ramirez rounded out the list at No. 101.

The Cardinals have hired longtime Braves television play-by-play announcer Chip Caray for their TV play-by-play role, according to David O’Brien of The Athletic. Caray had been with the Braves since the 2005 season. He will replace Dan McLaughlin, who was fired after he was arrested last month on DWI charges for the third time.

With the acquisition of Luis Arraez, the Marlins are planning to move Jazz Chisholm to center field. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic spoke to Chisholm about why he suggested the move.

The Red Sox have signed left-handed pitcher Ryan Sherriff to a minor-league contract, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Globe reports. Sherriff hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2021 and has a career 3.65 ERA over 44 1/3 innings.

The Cape Cod League has announced its schedule for the 2023 season. Games begin on June 10 and will run until the second week of August.

Trey Mancini will no longer play for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports. Mancini said he wants to spend more time with his team and get to know the organization this spring.

The Twins are acquiring outfielder Michael A. Taylor from the Royals for right-hander Steven Cruz and lefty Evan Sisk, Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel of ESPN report. While he didn’t hit much in 2022, Taylor posted a sparkling 19 DRS in 123 games in center field.

1980: Nelson Doubleday and Fred Wilpon lead a group of investors who will buy the Mets from the DeRoulet family for a reported $21.1 million, the highest a franchise has ever sold for. Doubleday will serve as the chairman of the board, while Wilpon will be the team’s president and chief promoting officer.

2013: The Mets sign right-handed pitcher Shaun Marcum to a one-year contract. Marcus pitched to a 3.74 ERA in 124 innings for the Brewers in 2012.
