The Binghamton Rumble Ponies may have had their four-game winning streak end on Tuesday, but Brett Baty put together an impressive performance, hitting his eighth home run of the season and reaching base three times. Meanwhile, the Syracuse Mets won in walk-off fashion, while the St. Lucie Mets snapped their seven-game losing streak.

AAA: Lehigh Valley IronPigs (40-33) 4, Syracuse Mets (29-43) 5 Box Score

The Mets have won three of their last four games, and each of their last eight contests have been decided by no more than two runs, making for an exhilarating past week of baseball for the Syracuse squad. The hero on Tuesday was Nick Meyer, who came into the game in the seventh inning as a defensive replacement and contributed with two run-scoring hits, including a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth. Patrick Mazeika had three hits including his first home run for Syracuse this season, while Deven Marrero reached base four times in just his third game with the team. Mark Vientos snapped an 0-for-10 streak with a fifth-inning single.

Nate Fisher had his longest start since his callup to Syracuse, going five strong innings and allowing just a single unearned run. He left the game with the Mets up 2-1, but Jake Reed was the only reliever to not allow a run of the four relievers to appear for the Mets. R.J. Alvarez allowed a home run to the first batter he faced in the ninth to blow the save, but he was ultimately credited with a win after the walk-off victory.

AA: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (28-42) 2, Hartford Yard Goats (44-26) 6 Box Score

The Rumble Ponies saw their modest four-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday as the offense took until the seventh inning to get on the board. Brett Baty launched his eighth home run of the season, a solo shot in the eighth inning, and Wyatt Young drove in the only other run with an RBI double in the seventh. Francisco Álvarez and Ronny Mauricio both had rough days at the office, as they each went 0-for-4 and Álvarez struck out three times.

This was meant to be a second rehab start for Max Scherzer as he is working his way back from a strained oblique, but he was pushed back to Wednesday’s game. A winning decision continues to elude José Chacin this season, who has a combined 0-5 record across 14 starts at the High-A and Double-A levels. He certainly did not do himself any favors on Tuesday, allowing five runs in five innings of work. Mitch Ragan and Andrew Mitchell did what they could to keep the Rumble Ponies in this one, but the late life from the offense was not enough to claim victory.

A+: Brooklyn Cyclones (33-37) 2, Hudson Valley Renegades (35-35) 5 Box Score

The Cyclones had their own four-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday, collecting only three hits and two runs on the night. Both of those runs came in the second inning on a triple from José Peroza. The Cyclones offense did draw seven walks, but the lack of hitting proved to be their downfall.

Junior Santos was able to recover well from allowing three runs in the first inning, but he was still tabbed with the loss on a night where the offense could not get anything going. Daison Acosta pitched the final three innings, allowing just one run and striking out four.

A: Jupiter Hammerheads (36-32) 5, St. Lucie Mets (41-28) 8 Box Score

The Mets snapped a seven-game losing streak with their victory on Tuesday, and they have a disappointing 2-9 record since clinching the FSL East Division title back on June 15th. The Mets scored six runs in the seventh inning to flip the script and overcome a four-run deficit. Alex Ramirez reached base three times and stole two bases to put his season tally at 16 steals. Justin Guerrera hit a home run in his first game since being demoted from Brooklyn, his sixth of the season for St. Lucie.

Jeffrey Colón had his worst outing of the season in just his second start of the year, allowing five runs on seven hits across four innings. However, the bullpen did an outstanding job of keeping the game close, as three relievers combined to pitch five scoreless innings. Trey McLoughlin walked away with a win, while Raimon Gómez recorded the first save of his professional career.
