Mets Host Annual Kids’ Holiday Party (With Video)

Amid the sadness of losing Jose Reyes to the Miami Marlins, the Mets organization spread some holiday cheer the afternoon of Dec. 13 at the team’s annual Kids’ Holiday Party in the Acela Club at Citi Field. Students from local schools performed holiday tunes, enjoyed a free lunch and received a gift from the big guy himself, Santa Claus. But hopefully the pressure of having kids sit on his lap didn’t affect Santa’s rehabbing knees, [...]

MMO Fan Shot: My Tribute To Jose Reyes

jose reyes smiles

I still remember the day Jose Reyes began his Mets career. June 10, 2003. It was my 20th birthday. Reyes was 19, one day shy of turning 20 himself. He was the first major leaguer I ever saw who was born after me. This would become part of his lure to me and my younger brother, as we would always finish off his list of accomplishments with “dude, he’s younger than me!” Truth be told [...]

A Fond Farewell To No. 7

josejosejose

No matter what you thought of the loss of Jose Reyes to the Miami Marlins, I think we can all agree on one thing: that Reyes was the best shortstop, infielder, and position player the Mets have ever developed. No Met ever swiped more bases or had more triples. His enthusiasm, passion and love for the game was infectious and Mets fans loved him from the word go. Reyes was electric on the basepaths and [...]

MMO Exclusive Interview: RHP Tyler Pill – Brooklyn Cyclones

Tyler Pill

Recently I interviewed RHP Tyler Pill, who the Mets drafted last June in the 4th round of the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft. A right-hander, Pill is an advanced college pitcher from a major baseball program at Cal State-Fullerton. As a result, he is someone who projects as a fast-riser in the system, with good command, quality stuff, athleticism, and the ability to pitch deep into ball games. After signing late last summer Tyler only got [...]

Interview With Mets Prospect LHP T.J. Chism

TJ Chism

I caught up to Brooklyn Cyclones left-hander T.J. Chism the other day, and he was kind enough to answer some questions for our readers at MetsMerizedOnline.com. T.J. had some really fascinating stuff to say, and there is no doubt that he will be a pitcher to keep an eye on as he progresses through the Mets minor league system on his way to the big leagues. Here’s what he had to say: Petey:   First [...]

Balance Is The Key To The New CBA

FAN SHOT 214

While details about the new CBA are still coming in, it seems one thing is quite apparent about this new deal. It was an exercise in balancing the inequities in the league. It starts off by balancing the AL and NL to have the same number of teams. While this does not appear to have much of an effect on team building it does balance one of the inequities inherent in the interleague play that [...]
