So it is definitely that time again – when MetsMerized Radio rolls up into your lives on your Thursday evenings. The radio show has taken on a life of its own – although I can guarantee it will not be crawling into your windows or snatching your family up. Instead, the radio show is a little more interested in getting us to talk about the topics that resonate across the Mets fan base – or at least here around MMO. The topics are numerous, but alas the time is limited… Here’s a preview of what you might hear on the air.

Will the real Angel Pagan please stand up? Talk about a change of scenery leading to a rewrite of the script… Was getting out of NY the best thing for Angel Pagan? Is the 2012 season indicative of the real Angel Pagan? Was the proverbial wall that Angel ran into towards the end of his Mets tenure a lack of talent, or was it something else?

On a scale of Jason Bay to Mike Piazza, how bad did the Pagan trade work out for the Mets and Alderson? Is it worth bringing back Andres Torres?

Speaking of bringing back guys, should Mike Pelfrey get tendered a contract?

Ozzie Guillen is gone from Miami – should we be happy?

How are our prospects doing down in the Arizona Fall League?

Are we breeding a losing culture in Flushing?

Why are all of my bullet points questions and not statements?

I often stress that the radio show is nothing without you all out there – the readers and listeners. This is literal, because otherwise it would just be a phone call between two guys talking about baseball. On that note, if you are interested in just listening to some good ol’ baseball talk for 30 minutes, I can recommend you no better place than MetsMerized Radio. You might laugh, you might cry, and you might even learn something.

As always, I want to encourage you to leave questions here in the comment thread for Pete and myself to address during the show – and the number to call-in LIVE will be given out during the show itself. So, I hope you can join us tonight for another episode of the longest running weekly episodic radio show associated with MetsMerizedOnline, the MMO Radio Show!

So there you go – I made the ultimate move to encourage laziness. Right above this text is your gateway to the most recent episode of MetsMerized Radio. In this episode, the fourth official one, you can hear Pete Shapiro and I make our debuts as the hosts as we talk about the 2012 season in a complete and comprehensive review. If you take the time to listen, you will hear opinions on everything – from the starting pitching and catching, to the outfield and their offensive and defensive production. You will also find out who I have a man-crush on.

In all seriousness, I had a lot of fun with this show and so did Pete. Of course, criticism and comments are encouraged and appreciated as we look to turn this into the best possible product we can create. So you can use the recap thread to give us suggestions for improvement or even topics down the line.

Quickly, I would like to apologize for the technical difficulties this week that forced us to delay the start of the show until 7:30. I apologize on behalf of the entire MMO Radio Team and promise that our best efforts will be made to ensure that the error will never be repeated.

Be sure to join us next week on Thursday, at 7:00 PM, as Alonzo Harris, the 2012 Sterling Award winner down in St.Lucie, joins us for what promises to quench the thirsts of those waiting for some minor league material. Pete and I will also take our first crack at the 2012 offseason, where the contracts of RA Dickey and David Wright are, without question, going to be brought up.

Quote of the show: “I still don’t want to talk about Frank Francisco, but I could talk about Matt Harvey for two hours…The Matt Harvey Show.”

Tonight’s show has been delayed to 7:30. It’s still on!

Get ready for a brand new episode of Metsmerized Radio tonight and every Thursday night at our new time of 7:00 PM on Blog Talk Radio…

After a little shuffling, you can look forward to dealing with the new hosts of the Metsmerized Radio project, who are none other than our Minor League Editor Pete Shapiro and myself, Satish Ram, the Jack of All Trades Recap Guy.

All jokes aside, tonight brings about an exciting episode as we wrap up the Mets 2012 season and consider what might be in store this Winter. Pete and I are chomping at the bits in hopes of having a chance to pick this season apart from every possible angle. You can expect to hear some positional analysis, general thoughts on why the first and second half were the tale of two teams, and maybe even what we thought of the organizational philosophies for the season.

Of course, as I have no doubt beaten into your heads by now, the show is NOTHING without the participation of you fans out there. Do not be afraid to drop a few questions here in this comment thread to help fuel the on-air discussion or suggest to us something specific you want to hear about the 2012 season.

When prompted, you are also free to call in at (215) 383-3773 to bring your questions or comments directly to Pete and I on air. I know I can speak for the both of us in saying that we love all forms of audience participation.

Tonight is pretty much the debut of a new format as we continue to evolve, and we would really appreciate your support in this endeavor. With the MMO name attached to this product, Pete and I know the standards we have to live up to, and we are ready to take on the challenge. So I personally invite you, the readers, to join us in our little adventure as we embark on…

MetsMerized Radio – Episode 4!

The MetsMerized Radio Show team was proud to have ESPN’s Mark Simon and Mets prospect Steven Matz as our featured guests for our third official episode. Our host, Matthew Falkenbury from the Daily Stache, was on fire opening up the show with a rant that on its own added a new crinkle to his reputation as a radio host. He ripped into the team and threw a question out there we would have loved to hear you all answer: What is the excuse this year? Is it just a lack of talent? Is it the front office? Why have the Mets been so bad at home in the second half? Make sure to get to that podcast and listen if you have not already.

As per the usual, the fifteen minute mark signaled the arrival of Mark Simon from ESPN. He seemed really happy to be on the show with us. A small outline of what you missed:

Do the statistics show a reason as to why the Mets have struggled at home in the second half? You can hear Mark Simon’s take on the second half struggles.

“If you’re watching for results…Don’t.”

You can hear what Mark Simon feels about the current offensive philosophy for this team.

Ike Davis is always a good topic. Matt Harvey, too!

Why do the Nationals dominate us at Citi Field?

Did we get his opinion on the Chipper Jones tribute? Of course we did.

Did someone name drop Generation K? You bet.

Mark expresses his feelings about the state of the organization as a whole: Front office and Terry Collins. Interesting to hear his opinion on Terry Collins – he wants to see him play with a better core of players and a better defensive outfield.

MMO Minor League Editor, Pete Shapiro, worked with Matt to interview Steven Matz. I have to say, it was an informative little exchange, but here is a little note: If you want to stay on Matt’s good side, do not mention Frank Viola. It is always good to get into the mind of these young arms out there – and Matz is definitely a name you want to remember. Matz posted a 1.55 ERA in six starts for Kingsport and he tops out in the mid nineties. You can learn a little more about him and who he thinks are the cant-miss future stars that were in Kingsport with him this year.

The last segment on this radio show is my own, which is the Ask MetsMerized feature. The segment got a little extension this week with the show picking up an extra half hour – so you all will be able to hear me botch words and sound lost. Once you get past that, you can hear some great questions provided by Hodges 14, Hakuna Tejada, David, Will, and Billy. You’ll hear Matt and I get into a discussion about topics like the Mets potential record next year, when they will be contenders again, what the 2014 lineup might look like, and name drops like Jason Bay, Daniel Murphy and… BJ Upton? Yeah, BJ Upton.

All in all, this was a fun show, and remember, just because you missed the live show does not mean you need to be left in the dark!

You can access the archived version of the third episode right here: MetsMerized Radio Show!

Be sure to tune in next week. Brandon Nimmo, Kevin Plawecki, Greg Peavey, Phil Evans and Gavin Cecchini have all agreed to appear as guests in upcoming shows and we’re in the process of sorting them all out as far as scheduling. Mike Vaccaro, Kevin Kernan and Joel Sherman will be joining us as well in the next few weeks. If you’re an MiLB junkie, Pete and Matt are going to tackle some notes on the Arizona Fall League. Looking forward to next week!

The MetsMerized Radio Show team was proud have ESPN’s Adam Rubin as our featured guest for our second official episode. Adam expounded on a variety of hot topics and shared some great insights. Our host, Matthew Falkenbury of the Daily Stache, had a great exchange with him.

MMO Minor League Editor, Pete Shapiro, dropped some great minor league knowledge on us, as always, and I got to throw a few questions in the direction of Matthew from the Mets fanbase. Thanks for the support, guys! Here’s the rundown of what went down for those of you who missed it.

In case you are wondering, Stephen Hanks was on an assignment down in Atlanta and was unable to make this show. He will return next week.

Matt opened up by talking about the Mets recent run on the road, going 6-3. He believed they had one last good run in them and that they could make a last grasp towards .500 baseball.

“2012 is a bridge, and you want to see that bridge built correctly.”

Chipper Jones plays his final game in Queens on Sunday, but on that topic, the Mets need to play spoiler to the Braves and Nationals.

“It would be an absolute joy to see the Braves choke again, and the Mets can help start them on that path.”

Did you know the Mets are over .500 on the road under Terry Collins two years running? I didn’t.. Matt had a nice little piece about the Mets play at home, too.

Adam Rubin comes on around the fifteen minute mark and got some good questions thrown his way in a segment that I can guarantee is worth listening to. You can hear him discuss:

The Mets financial situation, where he talks about how the Mets reportedly lost $23 million this year even after slashing payroll. He discusses the lack of cash flow from the Mets owners and how the Mets are working in contrast to the Dodgers organization. They’re waiting for the revenue to come in before they spend again. He said another team would invest the dollars like a stimulus to keep the fans dialed in and coming to the park, but they are in no position do do even that.

He says regardless of what is being reported, the Mets might not be spending until 2014 when Bay and Santana come off the books.

He discusses the current mood in the clubhouse after a recent stretch of good baseball.

Nobody is quitting on Collins, the problem is the talent level. The young Mets that have something to prove and the veterans are fighting for new contracts.

Listen to a great comparison from what scouts told him between Zach Wheeler versus Matt Harvey.

David Wright and his contract status – and even a Jose Reyes name drop.

His bluntness on Twitter and how he feels about Twitter. Met fans think beat writers should be Met fans too and that’s not what they get paid to do

Sandy Alderson and the Mets front office after two years.

Pete Shapiro, our minor league editor here at MMO, came on after Matt hung up on him. Matthew says it was an accident but make your own judgment… LOL.

Pete tackled the playoff teams for the NYM minor league system; the Brooklyn Cyclones and the St.Lucie Mets. You can hear him sing the praises of the St. Lucie pitching staff in 2012.

Some talk about Brandon Nimmo, Wilmer Flores, and Michael Fulmer. Fulmer is quickly becoming someone you have to keep your eye on.

Pete also took some time to address the puzzling question of why the upper level minor league teams have trouble winning while the lower levels are experiencing levels of success.

The last gimmick on this radio show is my own, which is the Ask MetsMerized segment. We had enough time to tackle questions from Ceetar, AlwaysWright, Met Maniac, and Brendan. Matt addressed Ruben Tejada’s recent decline, the future of Lucas Duda and the Mets outfield, and what you should expect from Alderson this offseason.

All in all, this was a great show, and remember, just because you missed the live show does not mean you need to be left in the dark!

You can access the archived version of the second episode right here: MetsMerized Radio Show Episode 2.

Be sure to tune in next week when we’re expecting to have ESPN’s Mark Simon on as special guest and a possible appearance from Mets pitching prospect and local product Steve Matz as well. Brandon Nimmo, Kevin Plawecki, Phil Evans and Gavin Cecchini have all agreed to appear as guests in upcoming shows and we’re in the process of sorting them all out as far as scheduling. Mike Vaccaro, Kevin Kernan and Joel Sherman will be joining us as well in the next few weeks.

Good Afternoon Mets Fans!

Tonight at 6:00 PM will be the debut of our Mets Merized Radio Show on Blog Talk Radio.

We have a great one-hour show planned, and we are happy to announce that our first guest will be notable and featured columnist Craig Wolff of the Newark Star-Ledger.

Craig started his career with co-host Stephen Hanks at SPORT Magazine in the late 1970s, when the Mets were in the doghouse. He went on to cover the Mets and NY Rangers for the New York Times, taught journalism at Columbia University and New York University and now is a special feature sports and news writer for the Ledger.

He has recently interviewed all the members of the Mets current front office for an upcoming feature in the paper, and he’ll give us a glimpse and some insight into what the braintrust may be thinking going forward.

Then we’ll talk September callups with MMO’s Minor League Editor, Pete Shapiro, who is back from a day with the Brooklyn Cyclones where he talked to Brandon Nimmo and Gavin Cecchini.

We’ll have some time to take live callers and even field a question or two from Twitter from Metsmerized Fan Correspondent, Satish Ram.

Join us and Lets Get Metsmerized!

Listen to our show here on our Metsmerized Radio Show Page.

Original Post 8/28

Hi everyone, I’m writing this post to share some exciting news with you as I officially announce the much anticipated debut of the Metsmerized Radio Show.

The show is set to debut this Thursday and every Thursday after that in the 6:00 PM EST time slot.

Metsmerized Radio is something that has been on and off the table for about three years. But finally, after some extensive research on the part of many, and the opportunity arising to make it all happen, we took the proverbial plunge back in July and have been working diligently to develop a product that was a winner and that would be sustainable. (Hey, where have I heard that before?)

What will make Metsmerized Radio stand out is that right from the beginning we wanted to be sure that it would be something refreshingly different. Every radio show begins and ends with the hosts and after much consideration, we put together a team that is vibrant, knowledgeable, passionate and unafraid to be daring.

Our two co-hosts come from two vastly different eras in Metsdom and they are Matthew Falkenbury who you all know from the Daily Stache, and Stephen Hanks, a longtime magazine editor and former owner of New York Sports magazine back in the eighties. Stephen lived through the two miracles of 1969 and 1986 and what it took to build those teams, while Matt anxiously thirsts to see a championship of his own. Together, their contrasting styles make for some solid debate each week as they tackle the never-ending supply of Mets news and drama.

The one hour show will also feature a regular segment on the Mets minor league’s from MMO Minor League Editor, Pete Shapiro. Pete will share his extensive knowledge on all the prospects whom he meets regularly as he travels to see them either at home or on the road. This week in particular, Pete will be reporting on his visit with the Cyclones as he spends the day talking with the manager, coaches and of course the players like Kevin Plawecki and Brandon Nimmo.

No show would be complete without you, the listeners. and each week will feature live callers as Matt and Stephen tackle your every question and concern about the team and the players,.as we make you an active and engaging part of our show’s dynamic. That total fan concept that makes MMO the thriving community that it is will be a big part of each broadcast.

We will also field a couple of questions from the Mets Twitterverse as MMO’s Fan Correspondent, Satish Ram, stretches out his social media limbs to bring the show some added depth from a whole other Mets world that almost has a life of its own.

Each week will also feature a Special Guest who can bring some additional insights on the latest Mets news and happenings, and for our debut show we are honored to have Mark Simon from ESPN joining us. Mark, a lifelong Mets fan that needs no introduction, is the widely popular Stats & Information Research Specialist for ESPN and a Mets Historian as well. His out of the box insights and unique perspectives are always a refreshing departure from the usual commentary you see everywhere else, and it will be fun to hear his thoughts as the Mets’ season winds down.

*** We had initially planned to have ESPN’s Mark Simon on, but something came up last minute and we’ll have him on in a couple of weeks instead.

We are also planning a special 90 minute show right after that, when we expect to have Adam Rubin on as our featured guest, as well as the Blog Father Matt Cerrone. That will be quite a show.

So there’s a brief introduction into what I know will be a show you won’t want to miss, and we invite all of you to listen live or replay our podcasts which will be made available on the DailyStache.net and MetsmerizedOnline.com shortly after every show.

It’s gonna be a blast!

Are You Ready To Get Metsmerized?!?!
