Report: Angel Pagan Has Trade Value

Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi over at FoxSports.com are reporting that numerous teams have been discussing Angel Pagan to be their potential starting center fielder. Outside of the Kansas City Royals, it is not yet clear who exactly is pursuing the 28 year-old outfielder although the article suggests that the Brewers, Rangers and Cubs could all have some interest. Last season in 88 games, Pagan hit .306 with six home runs and 32 RBIs [...]

The Atlanta Braves didn’t wait long too decide who their closer will be for the 2010 season. According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Billy Wagner has just signed a two year deal with the Braves. He becomes the first big name free agent to find a new home after agreeing on a new one year deal for $7 million dollars that includes a $6.5MM option for 2011 that vests if Wagner finishes 50 games. Wagner now becomes [...]

Harden, Polanco, Olivo, Beimel Not Offered Arby; Could Help Mets

The following players were not offered arbitration today and are free to sign with any team. In the case of the Mets, their first round pick was protected anyway, and they lose nothing by signing a Type B free agent. Of the players that are now coming across the sports news wire, these four players could be useful for the Mets. Rich Harden – Cubs: I’ve been a fan of Harden ever since he broke [...]

Holliday Will Sign With Yankees, Angels Or Red Sox

Via MLBTR, I came across this article on Fox Sports by Jon Paul Morosi who surmises that free agent outfielder Matt Holliday is on his way back to the American League. He specifically cites the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox as the three finalists for Holliday’s services. Only a handful of teams have the resources and desire to sign Matt Holliday. In that sense, the market for the left fielder’s [...]

The Mets 2009 season is coming to a close with less than 15 games left to play. MMO has decided to take a look around the majors for the Mets possible opportunities during the offseason. Over the next few weeks we will be looking at each individual position including the rotation, bullpen, and other Mets related needs. Its no secret that first base has been mostly a power position. Not only at the plate but also on defense, as first [...]

The Evil Empire Just Can’t Show Pity

This isn’t something I usually cover, but I just felt the need to put it out there. Since I can’t put this any better, i’ll just quote you from MLBtraderumors. Because it wouldn’t be a normal day without some bad news for the Mets, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports on her Twitter account that Chris Carter, the more significant of the two players rumored to be headed to the Mets in exchange for [...]

White Sox Get Alex Rios, Give Up Nothing In Return

Brace yourself my friends… According to the Tyler Kepner of the New York Times, the White Sox have acquired Alex Rios from the Blue Jays. It’s a straight waiver claim, so the Blue Jays will receive nothing in return. Says Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi: “This allows us to get out from under a contract and do more to address our club.” ESPN is now confirming. Blue Jays outfielder Alex Rios has been claimed off waivers by [...]

The Phillies have reached agreement on a trade that would bring them left-hander Cliff Lee and outfielder Ben Francisco from the Indians for Class A right-hander Jason Knapp, Class AAA right-hander Carlos Carrasco, shortstop Jason Donald and catcher Lou Marson, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. The deal, which does not include any cash, is pending a review of medical records. If completed, it will be a coup for both the Phillies and Indians. [...]
