Joel Pineiro To Angels

Free Agent sinker-baller Joel Pineiro, one of the top free agent pitchers left on the market, is available no more. Pineiro has agreed in principle to a $16 million/2 year deal with the Los Angeles Angels. Pineiro started his career with Seattle, as a starter, before shifting to a bullpen role with mixed results. He made his way to the Cardinals in 2007, and as many down-on-their-luck pitchers do when they come to a Dave [...]

Could The Mets Use Eric Byrnes Or Rocco Baldelli?

Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports that the Brewers have signed free agent left-hander Doug Davis to a one-year deal worth $4.25 million dollars with a $6.5 million mutual option for 2011. Davis was 9-14 with a 4.12 ERA in 34 starts with the Diamondbacks last season. The Mets never really showed any interest in the veteran southpaw. Two former 2009 Mets outfielders have new home teams tonight… First, Alyson Footer of MLB.com, reports that the Astros have signed [...]

Molina Rejects Mets Offer, Signs For Less With Giants

After rejecting a $5 million dollar offer with incentives from the Mets earlier today, Bengie Molina decided to to sign a one-year deal with the San Francisco Giants for a reported $4.5 million. Jon Heyman believes the news shows just how much Molina wanted nothing to do with the Mets. Especially, when the Mets deal was also reported to include a vesting option for a second year. So with Molina now off the table, the [...]

Cheaters, Phonies and Fakes

Former Yankees, Cardinals and Giants slugger, Jack Clark, didn’t have any kind words to say about Mark McGwire’s recent admissions that he used steroids and PED’s. “It’s a shame that he thinks we’re all stupid, that he only did steroids because of injuries. That’s such a cop-out, such a lie. These guys did steroids to take the money to pump up their egos and then take their consequences down the road.” Clark made these comments to [...]

Back Off Birdies!

Carlos Delgado is currently playing in the Puerto Rican Winter League and is interested in returning next season. Likewise, the Mets are interested in bringing the slugging first baseman back to New York.  Delgado had a good start to the 2009 season with a .298/.393/.521 line. Of course, that was all in a total of 26 games as the 37-year old first baseman underwent season-ending right hip surgery back in May. The Mets are not the only team interested [...]

Carlos Beltran Out 12-18 Weeks

Bad news… Joel Sherman of the New York Post has just reported on SNY that Mets centerfielder Carlos Beltran underwent some sort of surgery on his knee and will miss a minimum of 8-12 weeks. Reportedly, Beltran underwent this procedure without permission from the team. Last season, Beltran was very upset with how the Mets handled the bone bruise on his knee. Obviously, Beltran no longer trusts the Mets medical staff, especially one that remained intact after the [...]
