Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports that the Brewers have signed free agent left-hander Doug Davis to a one-year deal worth $4.25 million dollars with a $6.5 million mutual option for 2011. Davis was 9-14 with a 4.12 ERA in 34 starts with the Diamondbacks last season. Carlos Delgado is currently playing in the Puerto Rican Winter League and is interested in returning next season. Likewise, the Mets are interested in bringing the slugging first baseman back to New York.  Delgado had a good start to the 2009 season with a .298/.393/.521 line. Anthony DiComo of Mets.com, is reporting that the Mets have agreed to a new contract with John Maine tonight, thus avoiding arbitration with the right-hander. According to the Associated Press the deal is worth $3.3 million guaranteed and Maine can earn an additional $225,000 in performance bonuses based on games started. Bad news… Joel Sherman of the New York Post has just reported on SNY that Mets centerfielder Carlos Beltran underwent some sort of surgery on his knee and will miss a minimum of 8-12 weeks.
