Luis Castillo Complains Of Sore Knee Or Bruised Ego?

No sooner than being dropped to the number eight spot in the lineup due to a prolonged slump, Luis Castillo was hinting that he needs more time off to heal. The New York Post writes that when asked if he needs some time off, Castillo said: "Sometimes, I do. When I play three or four games in a row, maybe I can get a day off. I’m going to talk to Willie about it." Last [...]

Pelfrey Blanks The Nats 6-0 As Wright Drives In Five

What a way to open a series! There were so many bright spots in this game I don’t know where to begin, but let me start with Mike Pelfrey who pitched a gem tonight at Shea Stadium. Pelfrey’s fastball was popping and his slider was devastating to the Nationals hitters. He pitched seven solid innings allowing no runs on five hits and striking out four. In the third inning he got into trouble by loading [...]

Is It The Wright Time To Be Named Captain?

Pun aside, David Wright has shown to be the leader everyone has expected him to be. Ever since his first at-bat in 2004 for the Mets, Met fans know that this guy has what it takes to be the leader for this team. The 25-year old All-Star will most likely be named Captain of the Mets, but the question is, "When?" There is no doubt in my mind that Wright will be named Captain. If [...]

Just Another Manic Monday…

Happy Monday… kind of an oxymoron if you ask me. Right up there with “Smart Jock” and “Classy Phillies”.   It has been a rough week for our beloved Mets, which in turn makes it a worse week for fans. Hopefully starting Tuesday night against the “Gnats”, things will finally turn around. It’s a good thing for the Mets that the rest of the NL East is playing like garbage, they have a good chance [...]

Should We Go Back To A 3-4-5 of Beltran, Delgado and Wright?

Mets losses always get me to start thinking and yes even overreacting. I was wondering about a few things while I watched the game, and I wanted to discuss one of them with you. Last season we had to switch the 3-4-5 spots in the batting order because of Delgado’s slump. Now that he is hitting the heck out of the ball again, should we revert back to a 3-4-5 of Beltran, Delgado, and Wright? [...]

Mets Lack Of Execution Gives Randolph The Willies

The usually mild mannered Willie Randolph, was anything but that during his post game press conference this afternoon. A visibly distraught Randolph was as critical of his team’s performance than at any time since he took control of the team. “That put a damper on a nice off-day, huh? Jeez,” Randolph said after the Mets fell below .500 (5-6) with an overall ugly display at Shea. “Hitting into five double plays is what happens when [...]

Boo, What Is It Good For? Absolutely Nothing…

When listening to the opening introductions on the last Opening Day at Shea I intently heard the loud disdain for some members of the Phillies.  When Jimmy Rollins’ name was announced I think the boos were so loud it put another crack in the Liberty Bell.  OK I get it, I’ve been paying attention, I know why the Met Fan characteristically boos him and others, such at Pat Burrell, Chase Utley and other players from [...]

The Sheets Hits The Fan During Johan’s Shea Debut

Ben Sheets rained all over Johan Santana’s Shea Stadium debut, and masterfully out-pitched our new ace as the Milwaukee Brewers topped the Mets 5-3 on Saturday. Three home runs by Bill Hall, Rickie Weeks and Gabe Kapler helped end Santana’s day and a three-game losing streak. He lasted 6 2-3 innings and allowed five runs and six hits with two walks, striking out seven and throwing two wild pitches. On the other side, Ben Sheets [...]

Same Old Song and Dance?

When Angel Pagan hit the game winning single in the bottom of the 12th inning yesterday, it marked the first time I was excited for the Mets, and I mean really excited for the Mets, since Johan Santana opened up the season in Miami. Really though, the Mets were playing Triple-A players and Hanley Ramirez at best. The true tests, Atlanta and Philadelpia came and went. The Mets went 2-3 in those five games. The [...]
