A Plea For Sanity
I can’t begin to tell you how scared and helpless I felt as I watched David Wright lie still on the ground after being hit in the left temple by a 93-mph Matt Cain fastball. The force of the blow was so powerful that it knocked Wright’s batting helmet clean off his head and sent it veering toward the ground just ahead of Wright’s collapsing body. The ominous sound of the baseball and his helmet making impact [...]

Wright HBP Overshadows Mets’ 5-4 Loss To Giants
What was supposed to be a pitcher’s duel between Johan Santana and Matt Cain turned into another story altogether, as David Wright was felled by a 94 MPH fastball thrown by Cain. The Wright beaning was the most disturbing feature of today’s 5-4 loss to the Giants in 10 innings. Both Santana and Cain had cruised through the first three innings, putting up zeroes for both teams. Then Luis Castillo led off the fourth inning [...]

Brief Update on the Condition of David Wright
Update 9:10 PM – David Wright has suffered a concussion, and will remained hospitalized overnight at the Hospital for Special Surgery. * * * * * * During the latter portion of Fox’s telecast of today’s Mets game, video showed David Wright, dressed in a gray shirt and shorts boarding an ambulance. He appeared to be rather steady on his feet and did not require assistance of any kind to get into the emergency vehicle. This [...]

David Wright Drilled By Pitch To Head; Leaves Game
David Wright was drilled in the head by a 2-0 pitch thrown by Matt Cain in the bottom of the fourth inning during today’s game. Wright walked off the field under his own power, and Fernando Tatis replaced him as a pinch runner. An absolutely scary sight to say the least as Wright lied motionless on the ground for 2-3 minutes. It was a good sign that he walked off the field under his own power. [...]

What Do The Mets Do With Ollie?
Oliver Perez is quickly becoming the new Luis Castillo. Last year, Mets fans and journalists routinely ridiculed Mets GM, Omar Minaya, for giving Castillo a lucrative four year deal that was worth $25 million. This season Minaya is drawing similar criticism for the three year, $36 million deal that he gave to Perez. It’s hard to back Minaya up on this signing as Perez has been pretty much awful this season. However, count me in [...]

Parnell Shines As Mets Shutout The Giants 3-0
The Mets donned their throwback jerseys and defeated the San Francisco Giants by a score of 3-0 tonight at Citi Field. The Mets combined some solid pitching and timely hitting to win their second straight game. It was a nice way to start their longest homestand of the year. Bobby Parnell delivered an electrifying performance tonight as he held the Giants to just three hits, all singles, in six scoreless innings. Parnell threw 61 of his 86 pitches for [...]

The Mets Need to be BOLD
As one of Omar Minaya’s biggest supporters, I do believe it will be time to demote him after this season. When you take a look around the big leagues, you notice there are eight teams that will continue to operate with a team salary of over $100 million. Those teams are the Yankees, Mets, Cubs, Red Sox, Tigers, Angels, Phillies and Dodgers. There seems to be one glaring difference between their General Managers and ours, [...]
